BUILDING THE OOTEK-X SEA KAYAK / The cutout for the skeg control box. In my recent boats I have been placing the skeg controller on the side of the hull rather than on the deck. I make sure it is located exactly where I expect to find it while at sea without having to reach for it or look for it.
