The
coaming gives a small boat a lot of its character.
Builders do a lot of head scratching to find the line
between ease of installation and elegance. Steaming
heavier planks is one option used for obtaining curves,
but since this boat is made up of strips anyway I am much
more inclined to laminate thinner planks. Before I
laminate I use a heat gun to obtain most the bend I
require in the plank.
