After
cutting the top of the transom more or less to its
final shape I laid a couple longitudinal deck supports
into the rear deck frames and glued in the king plank…
Then the next big step: the start of the cockpit. I
used a couple of 8mm thick cedar strips to achieve an
easy, fair curve to start me off. They are notched
into the side deck supports. I considered varying
cockpit shapes, with rounded corners fore and aft, but
they seemed to detract from the dynamic lines of the
overall arrowhead shape, and would add work, so I went
with the obvious option.
