Many builders
continue stripping the hull from the outside, forming the
ubiquitous football shape at the keel. I have done this
myself on some of my boats. In recent years I have taken
to stripping the bottom of the hull parallel to the keel
from the middle outward toward the chines. I prefer the
look of it, and I believe it makes the boat go faster.
